Daniels County election officials and commissioners met at the June 15 session to canvass and audit precinct returns from the June 2 primary election. Staff and volunteers reconciled precinct totals, checked spoiled ballots and absentee counts, and performed machine audits in several precincts.
Clerks and board members read vote tallies aloud race by race and verified totals across multiple precincts. At one point staff noted a discrepancy that prompted a recount of a precinct book; after recounting the group agreed the corrected total. "Precinct 2 is completed and Julie got the same amount everybody else did," a clerk said while confirming results.
Commissioners signed tally books and envelopes after the audit checks were completed. The canvass included contests for U.S. Senate, U.S. House (Second Congressional District), state representative (District 29), public service commissioner and a nonpartisan Supreme Court justice seat. No legal challenges or provisional ballot disputes were raised during the session; staff will complete final paperwork and file official canvass records with the county.
