The Nauvoo Town Council on Sept. 26 approved an additional $4,250 to complete repairs and maintenance on two fire engines and announced a $10,000 CAWACO grant to purchase additional turnout gear, Mayor Terry Burgett said.
Mayor Terry Burgett told the council the repairs on Engine 1 and Engine 5 required more work than earlier estimated; $13,000 had been approved previously and the council voted to add $4,250, bringing the total authorized for the repairs to $17,250. Council member Denice Perry moved for the additional funding and Council member Deborah Barton seconded. A roll-call vote recorded yeas from Olivia Allbritton, Deborah Barton, Denice Perry, Melinda Wills and Terry Burgett; no members voted no. Council member Christian Dill was absent.
The council also heard an announcement from the mayor that a $10,000 CAWACO grant for additional turnout gear for the fire department had been approved. The announcement was presented as information to the council; the transcript does not record a separate motion or vote related to the grant.
The special meeting opened at 10:00 a.m. at Nauvoo Town Hall, with Nicole Garner acting as recording clerk, and adjourned at 10:14 a.m. after the funding vote and the grant announcement.
