Mayor W. Keith Varner called the Mulga Town Council to order at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 7 at Mulga Town Hall. Council members Jeremy Davis, Lisa Armstrong, Lelan Taylor and Rachel Davis were present; District 2 member Brenda Zinnerman was absent.
Council member Lelan Taylor moved to accept the Dec. 17, 2024 minutes; Lisa Armstrong seconded and the motion passed on a roll-call vote (District 1: Yes; District 2: Absent; District 3: Yes; District 4: Yes; District 5: Yes; Mayor: Yes).
Later, Jeremy Davis moved to approve the town’s bills for payment. Rachel Davis seconded; the council approved the payment of bills by roll call under the same voting pattern with District 2 absent.
The council voted to enter and later to exit executive session on motions by Lelan Taylor and Lisa Armstrong, respectively; both motions carried on roll call.
On legal authority, Lisa Armstrong moved to give permission to instruct the town attorney to file suit in Small Claims Court if necessary. The motion was seconded and approved by roll call. The council did not provide additional detail in the meeting transcript about the underlying claim.
Regarding town equipment, Mayor Varner said the bucket truck “is here” but that the turbo had failed and the town was getting repair prices; council member Rachel Davis then moved to purchase the bucket truck, with Jeremy Davis seconding. The purchase motion passed by roll-call vote with District 2 absent.
The council also reviewed three conference requests: the ACE Conference in Denver (June 7–12), the National Water Policy Conference in Washington (April 5–10) and the ARWA Conference in Orange Beach (May 20–24). Each request included travel and lodging for specified numbers of participants and estimated costs; the council approved attendance and related costs by motion and roll call.
The meeting record shows no recorded votes against any motion. The council adjourned after a final motion to end the meeting.
