Town of Nauvoo council certifies results of 2025 municipal election

The Town of Nauvoo council unanimously adopted Resolution 20250902 on Sept. 2, 2025, formally canvassing and certifying the results of the 2025 municipal election; Mayor Terry Burgett and councilmembers Christian Dill (Place No. 1), Olivia "Lou" Allbritton (Place No. 2), Denice Perry (Place No. 3) and Melinda Joan Wills (Place No. 4) were declared elected, their terms to begin the first Monday in November 2025.
The special session, held at Nauvoo Town Hall and called to order by Mayor Terry Burgett at 12:00 p.m., opened with a prayer by Councilmember Deborah Barton and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilmember Olivia Allbritton. Mayor Burgett read aloud a letter from the Board of Registrars informing the canvassing board that provisional ballots could not be counted because the provisional roster was not signed and that PB3 forms were not in the envelope; the council proceeded by reviewing the voting-machine tape printout and a tally sheet.
The council recorded the machine totals announced by the mayor and confirmed the counts for each office. Vote totals as read were: Mayor — Terry Burgett 35, David Meeks 20; Council Place No. 1 — Christian Dill 31, Nicole Dionne 25; Council Place No. 2 — Olivia "Lou" Allbritton 29, Sheila Bridgmon-Sizemore 27; Council Place No. 3 — Denice Perry 43, Lisa Sellers 12; Council Place No. 4 — Melinda Joan Wills 36, Julie Meeks 20. Based on those totals, the resolution ascertained the winners and declared them duly elected for terms beginning the first Monday in November 2025.
Councilmember Deborah Barton moved to adopt Resolution 20250902; Councilmember Olivia Allbritton seconded. The roll call vote recorded YEAS — Allbritton, Barton, Perry, Wills, Burgett; NAYS — None. The motion carried, and the canvass was certified. Councilmember Christian Dill was noted as absent from the meeting but was listed among the winners in the certification.
After adopting the resolution, Councilmember Melinda Wills moved to adjourn; Councilmember Denice Perry seconded. The council adjourned at 12:13 p.m. Nicole Garner is recorded as the clerk for the meeting.
The resolution and the tallied machine results are reflected in the meeting record; the registrar's letter indicated that no provisional ballots were counted because of the unsigned roster and missing PB3s. No further actions were taken during the session.
