Nauvoo council OKs surplus of fire pickup and old extinguishers, clears street closure for trunk-or-treat

The Nauvoo Town Council approved surplus of a fire department F-250 and outdated fire extinguishers, and authorized closing McDaniel Avenue Oct. 31 for a trunk-or-treat event; council also heard that engine one repairs are complete and other apparatus remain under repair.
The Nauvoo Town Council on Oct. 21 approved multiple actions requested by Fire Chief Matt Sanford, including surplus of a department white F-250 pickup and a lot of outdated fire extinguishers, and authorized a temporary street closure for a Halloween trunk-or-treat.
Sanford told the council that engine one’s repairs were complete and that engine five and the tanker were still being worked on. He asked the council to surplus the white F-250 so the department could sell it; the council approved the surplus and authorized the mayor and/or the fire chief to complete the sale. The council also approved surplus and disposal or sale of outdated fire extinguishers stored at the station.
The council unanimously approved closing McDaniel Avenue on Oct. 31 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to allow the trunk-or-treat event to proceed. The annual Christmas parade was discussed but no motion was made to schedule or approve it.
All motions in this set were approved by unanimous roll call votes. The actions are routine municipal housekeeping intended to clear aging equipment and permit a seasonal community event.
