The Needham Human Rights Committee reported progress on a discrimination-complaint process and said it will convert the existing intake procedure into an online Google Form that will be posted on the HRC's section of the town website and convertible to a QR code for event materials. A committee member said the form will give residents multiple access options, including printable copies available at town events.
Members also discussed membership and appointments: they have received inquiries from residents interested in joining the committee and said Select Board vice chair Josh is conducting candidate interviews. The committee said three current members expect to step down after this year and agreed to revisit meeting-day scheduling; members said they will decide at the June 18 meeting whether to move regular meetings to the second Thursday starting in September.
Committee members raised concerns about an upcoming multi-year Veterans Way renovation that will require some residents to relocate for periods of up to four months. Members asked about supports for displaced seniors โ including continuity of meal deliveries โ and urged coordination with the Community Council and other town services.
Routine business: at the opening of the meeting a member moved to accept the April minutes; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The committee adjourned by voice vote at the end of the session.
