Seabrook Island Planning Commission elects chair, vice chair; approves minutes

Seabrook Island, S.C. — The Seabrook Island Planning Commission elected Mary Joe Manning as chair and Fig as vice chair and approved minutes from its previous meeting during the Jan. 14 session.
A commissioner nominated Mary Joe Manning for chair; when no further nominations were offered members indicated assent by voice. The vice-chair nomination of Fig was seconded and likewise approved by voice vote. The commission also moved to accept the minutes from the prior meeting, which included earlier discussion of short-term rentals; that motion passed by voice vote.
Staff reminded new commission members to complete the online orientation and to forward their completion certificates to town staff for recordkeeping. Commissioners discussed continuing-education requirements: new members must complete a six-hour orientation in their first year, and returning members must complete three continuing-education hours in subsequent years.
A scheduling item was raised for the Sept. 9 regular meeting (conflicting travel); commissioners agreed to review calendars and consider moving the meeting to Sept. 2 to avoid the conflict and the Labor Day holiday on Sept. 7.
The meeting was adjourned after a motion and second.
