Union Township board approves $1.7M in bills, several facilities and service contracts and a $110,813 special-education tuition agreement

The Union Township Board of Education approved finance and facility items at its Sept. 23 meeting, including district bills for payment totaling $1,748,295.52 and multiple professional-services contracts for the 2024–25 school year.
Finance Chair Lou Palma presented the consent package. Contracts approved in separate line items included: Millennium Communications Group Inc. for a cellular service booster ($46,429.19 at the elementary school and $42,525.37 at the middle school), Mack Industries Inc. for an elementary-school boiler pump replacement ($20,635.00), Garden State Pavement Solutions for middle-school outdoor basketball court work ($12,094.80 for exterior improvements and $24,005.34 for backboards/rims/nets), Nickerson for indoor basketball equipment upgrades ($11,059.55 for the middle school and $18,957.60 for the elementary school), and Confires Fire Protection Services for kitchen sprinkler system service ($498.50 each site).
The board also approved a special-education tuition agreement with Franklin Township Board of Education for Student ID #3033027820 in the amount of $110,813.95 for the 2024–25 school year and accepted a Food Service Corrective Action Plan related to an Excess Cash finding for fiscal year ended June 30, 2023.
The motion to approve F1–F11, moved by Lou Palma and seconded by Mike Kokoszka, passed on roll call (six in favor, three absent). The board discussed facility updates from Supervisor of Facilities Jim Schwar and approved multiple facility-usage requests and professional development items as listed on the agenda.
