Council approves road change orders, grant applications and police policy updates in consent package

Grants and endorsements: Resolution 26‑82 authorized application for a New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Local Recreation Improvement Grant up to $75,000 for ballfield upgrades at Veteran’s Memorial Park. Resolution 26‑85 authorized the mayor to endorse a Treatment Works Approval application to the NJDEP for a septic field at Woodland Trails Campground (Block 345 Lots 3 & 4) to service nine campsites, based on engineering review.
Police and personnel: The council adopted Resolution 26‑95, approving a revised Vernon Township Police Department Rules and Regulations policy. The council also appointed an Alternate Municipal Prosecutor (Steven M. Siegel, Esq.) by Resolution 26‑92 and approved participation in the State Safe and Secure Grant (Resolution 26‑90) to seek approximately $45,150 with a required local salary/fringe match of about $139,402 (project total ~ $184,552).
Financial and administrative items: The council approved Resolution 26‑83 for emergency temporary appropriations totaling $95,000 to cover imminent contracts prior to the 2026 budget and Resolution 26‑91 establishing authorized township check signers.
