Vernon mayor commends police and fire after fatal structure fire

Mayor Anthony Rossi told the council that Vernon’s police and fire departments responded to a tragic structure fire on Feb. 18 in a coordinated manner and that officers took deliberate steps to notify the family of the deceased with care and dignity. "The Vernon township police dept treats the residents in our community like one big family," Rossi said during opening remarks.
Rossi said the emergency response included coordination with a school outside the district to ensure that the child affected by the loss was informed appropriately. He commended both departments for their professionalism and thanked them for their service.
Rossi also used his remarks to highlight upcoming community events and advocacy opportunities, including his planned attendance at a Highlands Impact Rally on March 7.
