The Wallkill Valley Regional High School Board on Aug. 27 approved a comprehensive personnel slate and several addendum items for the 2024—6 school year.
Personnel approvals included activity and club appointments (examples: academic bowl coach, marching band director and drama staff), adjunct stipends and extra summer hours for identified staff, and movement on the teacher salary guide. The board rescinded an earlier May resolution to hire Rosa Hernandez and then approved hiring her under a corrected salary placement (BA+15 Step 13, $98,404), per the minutes. The board accepted the resignation of Sean McElroy effective Aug. 31 and separately approved hiring Sean McElroy as a teacher for the 2024—6 school year at BA-5 Step ($72,745) with a start date on or about Aug. 28, 2024.
Addendum approvals included hiring paraprofessionals Ashley Kristofeck and Megan Coyle at $20.00 per hour (weekly hours not to exceed 28), approving additional summer hours for named staff at $51.00/hour (not to exceed listed hours), and Marching Band appointments (Tom Aroune as Marching Band Director, stipend listed). The board also approved a Stipulation of Settlement (OAL Docket No. EDS 12777-23) for a student matter (student #2425014) and authorized travel reimbursements for board members and specified staff to attend the NJSBA/NJASA/NJASBO workshop and exhibition in October 2024.
The board declared a long inventory list of network access points, Chromebooks and other devices surplus and authorized appropriate disposal. All personnel and addendum items in the minutes were recorded as approved by roll-call vote; the minutes do not list individual vote tallies.
