At its Sept. 24 meeting the Wallkill Valley Regional High School Board of Education approved an extensive package of policy and regulation updates and adopted a new policy on secret societies (P 5841).
Board members voted unanimously to adopt final readings and second readings of numerous policies and regulations covering Board member number and terms, electronic participation, educational equity and affirmative action, curriculum content, guidance counseling, bilingual education, prevention and treatment of sports-related concussions and head injuries, physical examinations, code of ethics, attendance, service animals, suicide prevention, student achievement recognition, sportsmanship and volunteer athletic coaches, among others.
The board also accepted a $100 donation from Dorsey and Semrau to be used by the marching band and authorized the submittal of the FY2024 NCLB Final Report and the FY2024 IDEA Final Report Grant application to the New Jersey Department of Education. The policy package and related motions were presented and approved as part of the Policy Committee’s recommendations.
The adoption of P 5841 (Secret Societies) was recorded as a second-reading acceptance. The minutes list updated complaint procedures and equity-related regulations alongside the new policy, indicating the district’s stated emphasis on equitable and safe school practices.
Board records show the policy motions were approved by unanimous roll call votes; the full policy text and attachments are on file with the district.
