Council introduces redevelopment and traffic ordinances, tables mobile-food rules; hearings set for Oct. 9
Summary
Washington Township introduced ordinances updating fire-prevention, zoning, traffic restrictions and a Delsea Drive redevelopment plan, and tabled a proposed mobile food facility article. Public hearings for adoption are scheduled Oct. 9, 2024.
At its Sept. 25 meeting Washington Township’s council took procedural action on several ordinances.
Ordinance 0011-2024, which amends Chapter 92 (Fire Prevention), was opened and closed to public comment with no speakers and motions that carried 4–0. Ordinance 0012-2024, amending area and bulk standards in Chapter 285 (Zoning), was likewise opened and closed to public comment with no public speakers. Council introduced Ordinance 0013-2024 to amend Chapter 260 to prohibit certain left turns into and out of Harbor Place from Egg Harbor Road; the motion to introduce carried 4–0 and a public hearing and adoption were scheduled for Oct. 9, 2024.
The council voted to table Ordinance 0014-2024, which would add mobile-food regulations as Article XXIX to Chapter 285. Councilmember Brown moved to table and Councilmember Bennett seconded; the motion passed 4–0. Council also introduced Ordinance 0015-2024 adopting an amended redevelopment plan for the Delsea Drive Redevelopment Area under the Local Redevelopment and Housing Law (N.J.S.A. 40A:12A-1 et seq.); the introduction passed and adoption will be considered at the Oct. 9 meeting.
All procedural motions to open, introduce or table the ordinances passed by roll call votes of Bennett, Brown, DellaPia and Del Borrello; Councilmember Yerkes was absent.
