Council member Paige was appointed July 2 as the council liaison to the planning commission after self‑nominating during a nominations period. The appointment was unanimous.
Paige said joining the planning commission as liaison will offer a learning opportunity and greater visibility into the commission’s work. Mayor Prom, a former planning commissioner, endorsed the nomination and said the role requires significant time and understanding of complex planning issues.
The liaison role is expected to create a formal two‑way communication channel between the planning commission and council; staff noted the planning commission meets twice monthly and the liaison will help keep council informed of commission work and projects.
