Council approves consent agenda including state grants and Green Acres enabling for park improvements

On Sept. 25 the Washington Township Council approved a consent agenda covering resolutions R228–R252 that included grant acceptances, tax cancellations for qualifying disabled veterans, contract change orders and administrative items.
Notable items in the package included a NJDEP 2024 Recycling Tonnage Grant in the amount of $75,356.75 (R233), a 2024 Body Armor Grant for $5,747.03 (R229), a 2024 Click It or Ticket grant for $3,920.00 (R230), and a Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over grant for $7,000 (R231). The consent agenda also included a $2,400 historical-commission grant and a $4,000 arts council grant, several tax-cancellation resolutions for totally disabled veterans, the appointment of Samantha Brown to the Library Board of Trustees (R249), and approval enabling the Green Acres program with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for Washington Lake Park improvements (R251).
The council voted to approve resolutions R228–R252 on a single motion (moved by Councilmember Bennett and seconded by Councilmember DellaPia); Bennett, Brown, DellaPia and Del Borrello voted yes. Mayor Burns and Township Attorney Wright were present during the vote; Councilmember Yerkes was absent.
The consent package also authorized change orders and acceptance of maintenance guarantees for CDBG road-improvement projects, accepted engineering inspection escrow from Ingerman Development Company for a Turnersville project, and approved the collective bargaining agreement between the Township and the Police Sergeant Association, effective Jan. 1, 2024 through Dec. 31, 2027 (R248).
