The Loris City Council on April 6 gave unanimous second-reading approval to Ordinance 01-26, authorizing the interim administrator to sign a contract conveying approximately 5.75 acres of city-owned land to Horry County for $315,000.
Clerk Melinda T. Price read the ordinance by title, and Attorney John C. Zilinsky told the council that Horry County will pay for the required survey after the contract is signed and that the city will retain approval authority over the resulting plat. Zilinsky said a contract addendum incorporating the plat as Exhibit A will require a subsequent council resolution before the addendum can be signed.
Councilman Lewis C. Hardee Jr. moved to approve second reading; Councilwoman Joan S. Gause seconded the motion, and Mayor Michael E. Suggs and the full council voted in favor.
The measure transfers the parcel identified in the ordinance by property identification number and authorizes city staff to proceed with the contractual steps described. The council did not record any dissents during the vote.
Next steps, as explained by Attorney Zilinsky, include completion of the survey by Horry County, preparation of the contract addendum and a follow-up council resolution to incorporate the survey plat into the contract prior to final execution.
