Washington Township Council introduces ordinances on fire‑prevention fees and zoning, approves consent agenda including School Resource Officer agreement

At its Aug. 14 meeting, the Washington Township Council introduced two ordinances and approved a consent agenda containing three resolutions.
Ordinance 0011‑2024 (amending Chapter 92, Fire Prevention) was introduced by motion and second. Councilman Brown noted the ordinance was requested by the Fire Department to allow the department to seek reimbursement from insurance companies for certain services. Public hearing and adoption are scheduled for Sept. 25, 2024.
Ordinance 0012‑2024 (amending area and bulk standards in Chapter 285, Zoning) was introduced by motion and second. Councilman DellaPia said the ordinance clarifies what is permissible for pools and pool applications. Public hearing and adoption are scheduled for Sept. 25, 2024.
The consent agenda included three resolutions read by Township Clerk Christine Ciallella: R225‑2024 (accepting a safety and stabilization bond from Ingerman Development Company for properties on Route 42), R226‑2024 (accepting fees and a bond for a road opening permit from Salerno Construction Corp.), and R227‑2024 (authorizing an interlocal services agreement with the Washington Township Board of Education for School Resource Officer services for the 2024‑2025 school year). The council approved the consent agenda with affirmative votes from Mr. Yerkes, Mr. Brown, Mr. DellaPia and Council President Peter Del Borrello; Mr. Bennett was absent.
The council also approved the bill list for Aug. 14 and the minutes for July 24 by unanimous recorded vote of members present (same vote pattern). The meeting adjourned at 6:48 p.m. The next regular meeting is Sept. 25, 2024.
