The Owens Cross Roads City Council unanimously adopted Ordinance 26-001 during its Jan. 27 meeting, amending the city—ode on right-of-way disturbance permitting.
The ordinance broadens which activities require a permit, revises the permit fee structure and extends the required resident notice period for planned disturbances from 24 hours to 72 hours. Council discussion focused on the change to the notification lead time and clarifying who must obtain a permit.
Councilman Claude Lang moved to consider the ordinance and Councilwoman Jennifer Little seconded. After consideration, Councilman Lang moved to adopt the ordinance; Councilwoman Little seconded and council members voted unanimously to adopt it.
The council did not record an effective date in the public discussion. The ordinance was adopted by roll call (all members present voting yes). Any questions about application of the new permitting rules were referred to city staff for implementation guidance.
