At a public hearing on April 30, Loris planning staff summarized a request to rezone a 0.56-acre property on Sanderson Street from R-1.4 to R-1.5 (Ordinance 02-26). Planning and Zoning Director Meredith Holmes said the Planning Commission recommended approving the request; the principal regulatory difference cited was minimum lot width.
Applicant representative Mike Masciarelli said the lot could be subdivided into two lots of approximately 0.28 acres each, and he noted that several existing lots on Sanderson Street are narrower (some about 0.18 acres). "The lots, if divided, will be larger and wider than the lots that are on Sanderson Street now," Masciarelli said. He added that he represents the elder owners, J.R. Mishoe and Helen Mishoe, and is not the owner.
Surveyor Mr. Davis answered Councilman Carroll D. Padgett Jr.'s question about lot dimensions. The applicants said two single-family homes are planned for the resulting lots. No members of the public offered testimony on this item.
Mayor Suggs confirmed the rezoning request will appear on the council meeting agenda on May 4 for formal consideration; no council vote was taken at the public hearing.
