At its Feb. 11 meeting the Weehawken Public School District Board of Education authorized the Affirmative Action Team to conduct a needs assessment and develop a Comprehensive Equity Plan (CEP), then voted to approve the CEP and authorize its submission to the Executive County Superintendent.
The motion to authorize the needs assessment was made by Mr. Pinal and seconded by Ms. Dennis; the subsequent motion to approve and submit the CEP was also moved by Mr. Pinal and seconded by Ms. Dennis. Both motions passed by roll call with the same eight members recorded as voting aye and one absence on the record.
The minutes do not include the full CEP text or a timetable for the assessment and implementation steps; the board’s action formally authorizes the district to proceed with the assessment and to transmit the approved CEP to county education authorities for review.
Next steps: the Affirmative Action Team is authorized to begin the assessment; the record does not specify staffing, deadlines or reporting milestones for the CEP development or submission process.
