Reinbeck council advances utility-rate ordinances to third reading July 6

The Reinbeck City Council on June 1 adopted second readings for two ordinances that would repeal existing utility-rate sections and replace them with new schedules: Ordinance #2026-06OR (water service rates, Sec. 92.02) and Ordinance #2026-07OR (garbage and recycling services, Sec. 106.08). At the same meeting, councilors approved a slate of fiscal and administrative measures. Council approved Resolution #2026-17R to call an election on establishing a Capital Improvements Reserve Fund and imposing an additional property tax levy; approved Resolution #2026-18R terminating a development agreement with Snow Angel Park LLC; approved Resolution #2026-19R to transfer funds to pay upcoming obligations; and approved Resolution #2026-20R setting employee compensation for fiscal year 2026–2027. Council also authorized submission and acceptance of a grant application from the Black Hawk Gaming Association via Resolution #2026-21R.
A payment request to Peterson Contractors Inc. for $84,036.80 related to the Center Street water-main and street-reconstruction project was approved; the mayor provided an update on that project. The minutes record roll-call votes for the ordinance second readings and several resolutions; where roll-call votes occurred the minutes show unanimous aye votes among the five council members present.
