Reinbeck approves street closings for RAGBRAI, Fourth of July parade and summer Farmer’s Market
Summary
The Reinbeck City Council approved street closings for RAGBRAI on July 23, Fourth of July parade and fireworks, and the summer Farmer’s Market closures between June 1 and October; closures were approved unanimously and city will supply barricades for some events.
The Reinbeck City Council voted May 4 to approve street closings for several summer events.
Greg Snider, representing the 4th of July Committee, outlined the parade route and noted a change in fireworks staging because of new construction; Park Street will be closed from Folkert’s driveway to V Avenue for the fireworks. Council approved the parade and fireworks closures unanimously and the mayor suggested using county barricades for the Park Street closure.
The Farmer’s Market requested its customary closure of Broad Street (Hwy 175 to Main) from June 1 through October; Councilmember Pease moved to approve and the motion passed 5–0. Councilmember Wambold presented planned street closings for RAGBRAI on July 23: West Street from Hwy 175 to Main, Main Street from West to Broad, Broad Street from Main to Hwy 175, plus additional closures on West Street to Clark Street and Clark Street to Broad Street for adaptive riders; the council approved those closings 5–0.
Approvals were made as routine event logistics to support community events; the council did not attach new conditions beyond recommending use of county barricades for one closure.
