Council keeps ordinance that bans backyard chickens and ducks after resident plea
Summary

Councilmembers raised concerns about noise, smell and waste-management burdens on neighbors and the city. After discussion Councilmember Pease moved to leave the existing ordinance as written (which does not allow chickens and ducks); Councilmember Trepp seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously 5–0 to keep the prohibition.
The council did not adopt any amendment or ask staff to draft new language at the May 4 meeting. The decision leaves the current ordinance in place and maintains the city’s existing restrictions on backyard poultry.
