The Weehawken Board of Education on Nov. 26 adopted multiple fiscal and grant-related measures, including amendments to federal grant applications and authorization to pursue American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds.
On motions moved by Ms. Carson and seconded by Mr. Pinal, the board accepted the Treasurer's and Board Secretary's reports and certified that, as of June 30, 2024, no major account overexpenditures existed. The board adopted transfers and rescinded prior monthly financial reports for July through October per the superintendent's recommendation.
The board approved amendments to the Fiscal Year 2025 IDEA grant to include carryover funds from FY2024: BASIC carryover $19,853 for an amended BASIC total of $372,813, and PRE-SCHOOL amended total $23,991. The ESEA grant amendment added a carryover of $746. The board accepted the FY2024 National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant and approved submission of an Artificial Intelligence Innovation in Education Competitive Grant (25-TG07-G02) to the New Jersey Department of Education.

The motion to authorize ARP-related applications was adopted unanimously.
The 2025-26 Budget Preparation Calendar was adopted to guide next year's budget schedule. The board also approved routine items including a Model UN field trip (cost not to exceed $1,450) and conference reimbursement requests.
