The Weehawken Board of Education accepted the superintendent's Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) report for March 2025 and issued written decisions on multiple incidents, recording individual determinations as either #2 (the HIB action occurred) or #1 (the HIB action did not occur).
On a motion by Ms. Carson, seconded by Mr. Pinal, the board unanimously accepted the superintendent's HIB decisions. The minutes list incidents at Weehawken High School (WHS), Daniel Webster School (DWS) and Theodore Roosevelt School (TRS) with findings recorded next to each incident date; the minutes note that no parents requested a Board hearing on these matters.
The board also approved appointments of currently employed staff to additional positions (examples: home-instruction assignments at $40 per hour and dance chaperone stipends) and granted leaves of absence for childbirth/family care and for personal reasons for named employees as recorded in the minutes. These personnel actions were adopted unanimously on motions by Ms. Carson, seconded by Mr. Pinal.
Separately, the board approved a contract with Stay Well Services for the 2024–25 school year on unanimous vote; the minutes record the contract approval but do not specify the contract dollar amount.
The board updated non-resident tuition rates to $8,000 per year for Theodore Roosevelt School and Daniel Webster School students and $9,000 per year for Weehawken High School students, stating rates remain subject to change based on student needs.
Procedural note: the board entered a closed executive caucus at 7:57 p.m. to discuss personnel, collective bargaining and litigation matters (the minutes say discussion included HIBs) and returned to public session at 8:11 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 8:12 p.m.
