Owens Cross Roads council accepts FY22–23 audit and renews website contract; schedule and community items announced

The Owens Cross Roads City Council handled routine business and community announcements, accepting the fiscal-year audit and renewing a website maintenance agreement during the meeting.

Audit acceptance: Christie presented Resolution 24-027 to accept the completed fiscal-year audit for Oct. 1, 2022 through Sept. 30, 2023, prepared by Daryl Weights & Associates. The audit had been distributed to council and staff in advance; James moved the resolution, with Elizabeth and Terry seconding, and the council adopted it.

Website maintenance contract: Christie introduced Resolution 24-028 to renew a website design, development and maintenance agreement with Hope Davis Media. The one-year renewal sets a fee of $1,200 for up to three hours per month of maintenance; additional hours are billed at $50 per hour. The clerk reported votes with Terry, Tony and Claude recorded as voting yes; Scott recorded as a no; James and Elizabeth recorded as abstentions. The resolution was adopted.

Announcements and community outreach: Christie said city hall will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 17 for electrical work to install a new generator; police services remain contactable. She also said district staff for Dell Strong will be at city hall Friday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for public assistance. Council member Terry encouraged attendance at the Madison Street Festival and a LifeSouth blood drive on the first Saturday in October.
