Weehawken board affirms HIB findings, certifies finances and approves staff stipends
Summary
At its Jan. 21 meeting the Board certified year-end financial reports, approved staff additional positions and rates for 2024–25, accepted Superintendent HIB findings for December 2024, admitted a non-resident tuition student and adjourned after an executive caucus to discuss listed HIB matters and a student privacy issue.
The Weehawken Board of Education on Jan. 21 completed a package of routine and oversight actions, including financial certifications, personnel approvals and affirmation of Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying findings.
On the financial front, the Board certified that as of Dec. 31, 2024 the Board Secretary's monthly financial report showed no overexpenditures in major accounts and accepted the Board Secretary's and Treasurer's reports for November and December 2024 as being in agreement; the motions were made by Ms. Carson and seconded by Mr. Acosta and recorded by roll call.
The Board approved listed currently employed staff for additional positions and rates for the 2024–2025 school year, including home-instruction assignments at $40 per hour, bus duty at $26 per hour, site manager pay at $115 per game and substitute teacher daily pay at $100.
The Board accepted and issued written decisions affirming the Superintendent's HIB findings for December 2024 for a set of WHS incidents; the minutes state parents were notified and no requests for Board hearings were submitted. In closed session the Board discussed multiple HIB matters (recorded as WHS 1–6) and an individual student medical-privacy matter.
Additionally, the Board approved admission of a non-resident tuition student (listed as AB, grade 12) and then adjourned the meeting at 8:07 p.m.
