Denton trustees approve donation, pay increases, claims and transfer; set grant budget

The Village of Denton Board of Trustees on Oct. 3, 2024, approved several administrative and fiscal measures, including a $2,500 donation to Nebraska Rural Water, a 2.5% wage increase for named employees, and approval of claims and transfers.
Trustee John Juricek moved to give a $2,500 donation to Nebraska Rural Water; Amanda Fangmeier seconded and the motion carried. The board also approved a 2.5% wage increase effective Oct. 3, 2024, for employees Terry Orme, Jake Baker, Charlotte Te Brink and Meriel Dissmeyer, and a 2.5% increase for health/insurance stipends for Blackledge and Clerk Charlotte Te Brink. The meeting minutes record that "Juricek seconded" on the wage motion; the minutes do not clearly identify the motion's primary mover.
The board approved claims list B for $90,760.93, claims list A for $830.72, and September payroll of $9,928.93, and authorized a transfer of $30,000 from the Keno account to the General fund. The clerk reported purchasing a $250,000 CD with LPL Financial for 18 months at 4.1% from a redeemed CD; this purchase was reported in the minutes.
Additional administrative items recorded in the minutes include consensus to send grant-application letters to local nonprofits and a 2025 grants budget of $12,000, the clerk’s plan to send procurement letters to five engineering firms regarding a water project tied to the Senator Fischer grant fund, and a motion to send development information to Village Attorney Maureen Freeman-Cady for review of a preliminary plat (Miller & Associates provided the review letter).
