Orderville approves cooperative agreements for wildfire mutual aid and training

Orderville’s council approved a cooperative agreement with the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands and an accompanying memorandum of understanding to enable the town’s firefighters to assist on wildland incidents and receive reimbursement when eligible.
Staff explained the agreement is similar to prior years’ MOU language: if qualified town personnel respond to incidents outside the jurisdiction they may be reimbursed and will follow required training standards (including wildland/Red Card-style readiness). Councilmembers discussed training requirements and the number of town firefighters currently qualified; staff noted that two firefighters were red-carded or had the requisite training level.
Councilmember (speaker 4) moved to approve the resolution (2026-06-01-3) and the related MOU; the motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
