O'Brien said work on the Bayberry toilet‑room upgrade advanced over spring break but one item in a life‑skills room — reported as a floating floor — has not been completed by the contractor despite repeated scheduling commitments. He said the district is retaining more than $200,000 to encourage completion and that project managers and district staff have escalated the issue to the contractor owner.
The outdoor learning commons and multi‑purpose field project remains out to bid; O'Brien said the bid opening was extended to May 13 to ensure proper documentation and that alternates are being priced to keep the award within referendum budgets. He reported meetings with the business administrator to review budget lines and said the project team is "pretty comfortable" with the ability to deliver core elements within cost using alternates as needed.
The board did not take action on the items during the presentation. District staff and the construction manager said they expect additional procurement meetings before final award decisions and will continue to hold retainage and manage punch lists until contractual obligations are met.
