Watchung board announces election winners and approves routine administrative, personnel and finance items

The Watchung Borough Board of Education announced the results of the Nov. 5 annual school election and completed a slate of routine approvals at its Dec. 19 meeting.
Business Administrator Karen Bishop Johnson announced that the three candidates elected to three‑year seats beginning in January are Dory Harvey, Jessica Maddox and Adam Craft. The board thanked all candidates and voters for participating in the election.
After administrative and committee reports the board moved several action items. Dr. Vince Kua made the motion to move administrative action items and the board approved, by roll call, motions that included approving prior meeting minutes and a memorandum of agreement between the district and local law‑enforcement officials. Personnel motions — appointments, before/after care staff approvals, salary adjustments and extracurricular appointments — passed on roll call. The operations and finance slate passed as well; items included payment of bills, fund transfers, acceptance of financial reports, authorization of grant submissions and approval of payment application No. 7 for Bayberry and Valley View HVAC upgrades and a related change order.
Roll‑call results recorded members present and voting yes (those listed in the roll calls): names recorded on the vote rolls appeared as voting yes and several members were recorded absent for those votes (the transcript lists Amadeo, Ang Gracia and Mr. Fras as absent on multiple roll calls). Policy committee items advanced: one policy moved for first reading (P5440, honoring student achievement) and P/R 7510 (use of school facilities) moved for second reading; a booster club policy was recommended for first reading. The board closed the agenda after public comments and adjourned to take a photo and offer holiday well‑wishes.
