Maror County schools report mixed test results; district lays out improvement plans

The testing-data presenter explained how report-card points are assigned across indicators — academic achievement, student progress, college- and career-readiness and school climate — and noted districtwide declines in some ELA and math measures. Several schools were identified as receiving state or federal support categories (CSI, ATSI, TSI) and will receive earmarked funds for targeted interventions. The district overall rating remained unsatisfactory.
Administrators from multiple schools described classroom-level strategies to raise performance: data rooms and data notebooks for students, small-group instruction, professional development for teachers, after‑school remediation and the use of diagnostic tools (iReady) and 10-day common assessments. Principals emphasized vertical cohort tracking to show gains within the same students as they advance grades.
Dr. Tiller and federal programs staff said principals will return in January with comprehensive improvement plans for designated schools and submit required documents to the state; some federal approvals (for staffing) depend on state/federal review.
The board was told that the investment‑grade audit and facilities needs are being coordinated with instructional priorities, and that the district will present a final audit and a program approval request in spring before pursuing financing.
