Students, staff and community groups recognized; HELP Inc. asks board to waive custodial fee for MLK Day

The Swedesboro-Woolwich Board of Education opened its Jan. 15 meeting with student and staff recognitions and multiple community acknowledgements.
The board announced Stellar Comet of the Month honorees across buildings and recognized Teachers of the Year and Educational Support Persons of the Year for district schools. The superintendent’s updates included a Project Elf report: the district and community partners served roughly 400 children with donated food, toys, clothing and other support during the 2024 drive.
During the public comment period, Eileen Healey, identified as SWEA president, thanked Dr. Kellogg and the administrative team and asked, "What is an Abilities Solutions Mentor?" The minutes show that Abilities Solutions was later listed for approval as a Job Developer (Mentor) for Mattson Gray at no cost to the district.
Reverend Sherry Hall of HELP Inc. thanked the board for support of its MLK Day celebration and requested that the custodial fee for use of Clifford School be waived. The minutes record that Dr. Kellogg said he would reach out to Reverend Hall to follow up on the request. The facility-usage approvals recorded by the board were made conditional on submission of required insurance certificates and 501(c)(3) documentation.
