Board approves $3.39 million in bills, maintenance plan and walkway project

Swedesboro-Woolwich approved $3,386,183.96 in November bills and $1,529,014.43 in payroll, adopted the Comprehensive Maintenance Plan, and approved a developer-funded walkway project near Harker School.
The Swedesboro-Woolwich Board of Education on Nov. 20 approved routine financial and operations business, including the payment of November regular and addendum bills totaling $3,386,183.96 and October payroll of $1,529,014.43.
On a Baker/Barbara motion the board approved the bills and payroll figures as presented. The board also approved submission of the 2024-25 Comprehensive Maintenance Plan and the Annual Maintenance Budget Amount Worksheet (M-1) for the 2024-25 school year.
The Operations Committee recommended engaging Summit to construct a paved walkway connecting development behind Harker School to the Harker pathway; board documents indicate the mayor reached out to a developer and the developer agreed to construct the paved walkway. Board member Alfred (Al) Beaver asked whether the developer was paying for the walkway; Superintendent Dr. Kristin Kellogg said she had discussed short- and long-term ideas with the mayor and that the developer agreed to make the paved walkway.
The board also approved sending Transportation Route GCH10 out for bid and approved the District Report of Transported Resident Students (DRTRS) and recorded completion of October bus evacuation drills at district schools.
The board approved two professional-development items for the 2024-25 school year: attendance for NJTESOL (May 20-22, 2025) to be paid with Title III funds and superintendent attendance at an Innovative Schools Summit (March 20-23, 2025) in Orlando; Dr. Kellogg confirmed there is no virtual option for the latter. ESEA grant allocations (including 2023-24 carryover funds) and the tentative 2025-26 budget calendar were also approved as submitted.
