Health Facilities Commission elects vice chair, approves routine licensure and procedural items

The Tennessee Commission for Licensing Health Care Facilities elected Melanie Keller as vice chair and approved routine business during its Aug. 28 meeting.
Chair R. G. (Rick) Chinn called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m., and a roll call established a nine-member quorum. The Commission voted to accept the June 2024 meeting minutes after a motion by Nicole Sweitzer and a second from Jeremy Biggs.
The body approved multiple consent-calendar items, including inactive license requests for Jellico Regional Hospital (Hospital #7), The Village at Primacy Place (ACLF #22, closed May 31, 2024), Satellite Wellbound of Memphis (ESRDC #234, lease expired Aug. 31, 2024), and Oakwood Assisted Living (ACLF #233, seeking a one-year extension for renovations). The Commission also approved a temporary regulatory waiver under Board Policy #81 for the Tennessee Veterans Home, Murfreesboro (NH #222) while a temporary administrator (Warren Jasper) obtains Tennessee licensure.
The approvals were routine and passed by voice vote without recorded opposition. The meeting then moved into a series of ratifications for qualifying licensure applications and change-of-ownership matters.
The Commission took a short break at 10:49 a.m. before resuming the Certificate of Need (CON) portion of the day's agenda.
