Teaneck to participate in Project THRIVE school-based mental health partnership; CBI locations and bus drills approved

The Teaneck Board of Education on Nov. 13 approved district participation in Project THRIVE, a school-based mental-health partnership led by FDU that will use a tiered model of services (Tier 1 universal supports and Tier 2/3 targeted interventions) across partner districts. The board’s agenda includes Project THRIVE materials describing selection criteria for practicum and internship placements and an outline of evidence-based interventions proposed for Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports.
Separately, the board approved Community-Based Instruction (CBI) locations for Transition and MD classes (grades 11–12 and ages 18–21) so students can practice life and vocational skills (public transportation, banking, job-site transactions) as specified in their IEPs. The motion to approve CBI locations was recorded in the School Operations portion of the agenda.
The district also reported completion of the required emergency school bus exit drills for listed schools in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:27-11.2 and approved submission of those drill approvals to the Executive County Superintendent. The drills and staffing for each school were itemized in the packet (dates, staff present, and bus routes). The board approved items 1–3 under School Operations as presented.
