Teaneck board approves cooperative swimming agreement with Hackensack for 2024–25

The Teaneck Board of Education on Oct. 15 approved an interdistrict cooperative sports agreement with the Hackensack Board of Education to establish a joint competitive boys and girls swim team for the 2024–2025 school year.
Per the agreement, Hackensack will serve as the home site and host weekly practices at the Hackensack High School pool. Each district is responsible for determining medical and academic eligibility for its own students; where rules differ the more stringent rule will apply. Transportation responsibilities are split: Teaneck will provide buses for Teaneck swimmers to get to Hackensack for practices and will provide joint bussing arrangements for away meets. Costs for shared items (uniforms, tournament fees, reconditioning, bussing for away meets) are to be shared evenly; each district covers registration and related costs for its own students.
The agreement assigns local education agency (LEA) responsibilities, indemnification and insurance obligations to both districts, and delineates coaching hiring procedures with Hackensack retaining responsibility for hiring and paying head‑coach salaries.
