The Swedesboro-Woolwich Board of Education unanimously approved the 2025–26 school calendar and a package of curriculum-related items during its Feb. 12 meeting.
Curriculum Committee Chair Natalie Baker presented and the board approved acceptance of the Student Safety Data System (SSDS) information for July–Dec. 2024 and scheduled a Kindergarten Parent Information Session for March 20 (snow date March 27) to be held at Clifford School.
The board approved professional development and tutor appointments: Denis Sheeran to deliver "Deepening Mathematical Concepts" on Feb. 19–20 at $3,000 per day paid through ESEA Title funds; Tara Roberto and Chris MacGuigan to attend an Artificial Intelligence for Educators program on May 19, 2025 at $225 per person (paid with Title II funds); and Haley Watson as an ESL tutor at $38 per hour paid through Title III funds.
The board also approved several 2024–25 field trips across district schools, including visits to the Please Touch Museum, Cohanzick Zoo, Delaware Children’s Museum, Philadelphia Zoo and a trip for Harker third-graders to Kingsway High School to see the play Matilda on March 5, 2025. Committee action was recorded as Baker/Barbara; the motion carried 8-0.
Board members asked clarifying questions about logistical details (for example why a 3rd-grade trip did not return to the Franklin Institute this year); Superintendent Dr. Kellogg said she would follow up with building administration and report back to the board.
