Board clarifies walkway/runway requirements, rescinds item for further review

BI 25-01, which concerned ladder and runway requirements for preexisting boilers and pressure vessels, was presented by Mr. Toth. During the discussion Mr. Toth offered to rescind the item so staff and board members can perform further review and provide clearer language. The board did not adopt BI 25-01 at this meeting; Mr. Toth indicated he would return the item after additional clarification.
Board members framed the approved clarification as helping to reduce regulatory uncertainty for older installations while maintaining safety oversight. The rescission offer for BI 25-01 indicates staff and the presenter will revisit technical language before the board considers a formal interpretation.
