Committee backs Riverside RPP parking revisions after community-led process

Council Bill 260197, proposing revisions to the RP Area 48 (Riverside) residential parking program, was presented and recommended favorable by the Land Use and Transportation Committee on July 2.
Sponsor Councilman Zack Blanchard said the revisions reflect a community-led process to adjust permit boundaries, hours and special permits around Riverside Park, including changes prompted by petitions from residents on Johnson Street. Jeff Brown, the RPP area liaison, said churches and Thomas Johnson Elementary were consulted and that earlier plan choices (including permit hours and church permit expirations) had produced gaps the revisions aim to fix.
Agency reports showed limited fiscal impact (Finance estimated a maximum annual revenue impact of $760), and the Law Department, Planning, DOT and the Parking Authority provided favorable or non-opposed recommendations. Vice Chair Sharon Green Middleton moved the bill favorable; the motion carried and the committee recommended the measure to the full council.
