Spring Lake Heights council approves consent agenda, renews liquor licenses and authorizes bills payment

At its June 2 meeting the Spring Lake Heights Borough Council approved a consent agenda of routine resolutions and then passed separate resolutions renewing designated alcoholic beverage license renewals and authorizing payment of the May 30, 2025 bills list.
Consent Agenda items R2025-111 through R2025-119 included authorizations to waive food handling permit fees for specified businesses and 501(c)(3) organizations, approvals for outdoor music at The Mill Lakeside Manor and Spring Lake Tap House, approval for a temporary closure of a portion of Sussex Avenue, approval for use of the Cornelius V. Kelly Community Center, appointment of summer recreation program employees, a shared-services agreement with the Borough of Spring Lake for construction services, and adoption of updates to the Emergency Operation Plan and Mutual Aid Agreement.
Councilwoman Sara King asked about reported early inspection times for construction inspections; Borough Administrator John Barrett responded that the issue has been addressed. The council approved the consent agenda by motion and recorded four ayes with two members absent.
The council also approved Resolution R2025-120 renewing designated Alcoholic Beverage Control licenses and Resolution R2025-121 authorizing payment of the itemized claims on the May 30 bills list; both measures passed by unanimous recorded vote of members present (Councilmen John Casagrande, Michele Degnan-Spang, Sara King and Christopher Willms), with Councilmen Leonard Capristo and William Graetz recorded as absent.
Mayor Christopher Campion concluded the meeting with remarks thanking organizers and seventh-grade participants in the borough's Youth Government Day. The meeting was adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
