Merrimac Board of Health signs regional shared‑services grant, names coalition representatives

The Town of Merrimac Board of Health voted unanimously on Jan. 14 to sign an inter‑municipal agreement enrolling the town in a Merrimack Valley Public Health shared‑services grant and to adopt the Open Meeting Law posting methods used by the grant’s host community, Amesbury.
"I move that the Board sign the grant," Chairperson Christine Berube said when making the motion; Jason Sargent seconded and the motion passed 3-0. Berube later moved that "in accordance the provisions of 940 CMR 29.03(3) we adopt the Open Meeting Law posting methods specific to Regional or District Public Bodies," a motion Sargent also seconded and the board approved unanimously.
The board also approved appointments to represent Merrimac on the Merrimack Valley Public Health (MVPHA) advisory board: Christine Berube as the primary voting member (motion by Jason Sargent, seconded by Ashlyn Calcagni) and Health Agent Deborah A. Ketchen as an alternate (motion by Berube, seconded by Sargent). Both appointments were approved 3-0.
Board members said the actions formalize the town’s participation in the regional public‑health collaborative and align Merrimac with the host community’s posting procedures for shared meetings and notices. The Health Agent will follow up with coalition staff and report back to the board at a future meeting.
The board set its next meeting for March 3, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the Police Station meeting room.
