Borough Engineer Marc DeBlasio told the Feb. 4 work session that the I‑Bank watermain replacement project on 111th through 121st Streets is continuing and is expected to be finished before the start of summer.
DeBlasio said the 96th Street recreation improvements will have base and equipment installed by April, and that a second portion of the project includes improvements to the basketball courts and construction of an administration building and bathrooms; he said plans will be finalized and advertised to bid next week.
Mayor Timothy J. Carney announced the borough received a $1.12 million grant through the County Open Space Program to fund the 96th Street improvements and said the borough submitted an application that afternoon for a Jake's Place grant for the 82nd Street playground.
Councilmember Ken Biddick reported he participated in a ride‑along with Public Works and met with the Utilities clerk about billing and collections and ongoing water‑meter problems. Biddick said the meter manufacturer has accepted responsibility for the issues and will replace necessary meters. No construction bids or contract awards were acted on during the Feb. 4 work session.
