Superintendent Dr. Gerald Benaquista said the committee reviewed parent concerns and that the updated calendar reflects those discussions.
During public comment, parents and community members urged the district to reinstate library specialists across schools and to allocate funds for library collections. Erika Newland asked that calendar decisions and job descriptions include clearer salary ranges and said she would prefer staff-development scheduling adjustments; Michelle Zetta noted the state literacy standards law (S588) and argued for more librarian support. Several commenters asked that Zoom be restored for public participation so community members who cannot attend in person can participate.
Board members said the district will continue community engagement and that multiple open houses, office hours and committee meetings are planned to solicit input on realignment and curriculum changes.
