Silver Creek supervisors approve maintenance contracts, set 28-foot minimum road width

The Silver Creek Township Board of Supervisors on June 3 approved a package of maintenance contracts and set a new minimum road width intended to standardize future work. Chairman Mike Helman presided over the meeting in which supervisors voted 3-0 to accept bids and authorize repairs.
Supervisor Andy Christensen moved, and Supervisor Sandy Forsman seconded, to accept Knife Rivers’ bid for road overlays and to accept Astechs’ bid for UTBWC; both motions carried unanimously. In the same block of votes, the board approved necessary grader repairs and authorized listing used culverts for sale on the MN Bid platform.
In old business, Christensen moved and Forsman seconded a motion to set the township’s minimum road specification at 28 feet wide; the motion carried 3-0. The board recorded that the new specification will guide upcoming maintenance and overlay projects.
The board also approved the renewal of the Up the Creek liquor license and voted to continue using Otto Associates as the township’s engineer. All formal motions at the meeting passed by the same recorded margin of 3-0.
The meeting concluded after a motion by Supervisor Sandy Forsman, seconded by Supervisor Andy Christensen, to adjourn. Clerk-Treasurer Alana Paumen recorded attendance and results.
