Jenison Public Schools presents climate survey showing 5,900+ responses; results to guide goals

Jenison Public Schools staff presented the results of the district’s 2025 climate survey during a board workshop on Sept. 29, reporting more than 5,900 responses collected in March and April — roughly 700 more than the prior year.
Julie Roby led the presentation and an interactive activity with the board. The survey included responses from six stakeholder groups (TK–1, elementary, junior high, high school, staff and families) and measured five areas: teaching and learning; physical environment (maintenance); school safety and rules; interpersonal relationships; and parental involvement.
Roby said participation increased among elementary and high-school students, while staff and family responses decreased slightly; junior high responses remained similar to the previous year. The district will use the data to guide district- and building-level goals and strategic planning and plans to administer the survey again in spring 2026 to provide a consistent measurement of stakeholder perceptions.
Board members discussed plans to increase community access to the results and to align actions with the district’s strategic vision. Staff said survey findings already informed planning during the spring and summer and will continue to shape initiatives this school year.
