South Plainfield council approves block of resolutions, $6.33 million in bills and issues proclamations; moves to executive session

The South Plainfield Borough Council approved a block of resolutions, authorized payment of municipal bills totaling $6,325,774.19, accepted proclamations for American Heart Month and Black History Month, and voted to enter executive session for contract, personnel and litigation matters.

Council moved and seconded adoption of the listed resolutions (transcript lists them collectively). The clerk conducted a roll call and the voting members recorded affirmative votes. The council then approved payment of bills totaling $6,325,774.19 on motion and roll‑call vote.

Earlier in the meeting the mayor read proclamations recognizing February as American Heart Month and Black History Month; representatives from borough wellness programs and residents accepted and thanked the council. The recreation department noted a $1,000 wellness grant that will support health‑fair testing and programming, and staff reported a pre‑construction meeting is scheduled for community‑pool improvements and that the borough submitted a New Jersey Transit vehicle grant application for a replacement senior‑center bus and secured funding for a new play structure at Cotton Street Park.

Finally, the council moved, seconded and approved resolution 2379 to enter executive session for one contractual item, two personnel matters and one litigation matter. The council indicated no further public action was expected that night and recessed to executive session.
