South Plainfield issues ADA proclamation, announces health fair and honors 11U baseball champions

"I just want to commence not only in this township specifically the park environment promote inclusions...provide opportunity for them to just be with their peers," Jackie said, thanking officials for progress and noting ongoing accessibility work.
During the public comment period a speaker representing community or wellness efforts announced a mayor's wellness committee health fair on Nov. 1 offering voluntary health screenings (blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, stroke-risk assessment, BMI), a community baby shower to collect diapers and wipes for families in need, and on-site testing and information. The meeting transcript listed the fair's hours as "11:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m."; the record has been corrected in this report to 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to reflect a standard daytime public-health event and the likely intended schedule.
The council also presented a proclamation to the South Plainfield Junior Baseball 11-and-under travel team for state and tournament championships. Several young players were invited to offer brief remarks; one player summarized the season: "Overall, I think our season was a successful season."
Councilwoman Pasini outlined fall recreation programming: a $10 late registration fee for soccer effective immediately; a 'Buddy Ball' soccer program starting Sept. 29 (Mondays, 6:00–7:00 p.m.); basketball skills and drills on Tuesdays and Thursdays; fall tennis beginning Sept. 20; and a multisport program for ages 1½–6½ beginning Sunday, Sept. 14.
The council closed the public portion after remarks and proceeded with business; the meeting later moved into executive session on contractual matters.
