Governor's School board adopts livestream rule, AI-use policy and diploma-name change

The board also approved a high-level artificial intelligence use policy drafted by school leadership to set umbrella expectations for staff and students. Dr. Thomas told the board the policy is intended as a framework and that more specific implementation guidelines will follow. "In 2026 it doesn't seem responsible for us to not have an AI policy," he said. The AI policy was approved by voice vote.
Finally, members adopted a proposal to rename the school's scholars diploma to the "Diploma of the Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities" for future graduates; the motion carried by voice vote.
Meeting minutes and standard procedural items were handled by voice vote earlier in the meeting. No formal roll-call tallies were recorded in the public transcript; minutes use the board's voice affirmation method ("All those in favor say 'I'").
