Jonesville council administers oaths, names Andy Penrose mayor pro-tem and finalizes committee assignments

Jonesville Mayor Gerry Arno called the city council to order at 6:30 p.m. and Clerk Cynthia D. Means administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Gerry Arno and councilmembers Dean Adair II, Andy Penrose and Annette Sands. Brenda Guyse led the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence.
The council presented a proclamation recognizing Delesha Padula for more than six years of service to the council, including committee work and time as mayor pro-tem. Councilmember Brenda Guyse spoke on behalf of Padula and offered the council’s gratitude.
During routine business the council approved the Oct. 16, 2024 regular meeting minutes and received minutes from county and regional partners. Councilmembers approved a motion to schedule a public hearing on Dec. 18, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. to consider an amendment to the Ordinance for Sale of Property – Policy and Procedure.
Council organizational items included appointment of Councilmember Andy Penrose as Mayor Pro-Tem (motion by Brenda Guyse, supported by Chris Grider) and assignment of members to standing subcommittees and outside boards. Assignments listed term expirations for subcommittee and board representatives, including the Budget Committee, Personnel Committee, Downtown Development Authority, Local Development Finance Authority and Region 2 Planning Commission.
The council carried each appointment and assignment by vote. The meeting proceeded to other agenda items after the organizational matters.
